Some of the most revolutionary acts I’ve witnessed come from kindness, from love – the selfless place within us that puts what’s right and good and sacred above all else.
These are the qualities of strength and courage that inspire me. That make me want to rise.
When I see people continue to live and love well in spite of all of their hardships no matter what their past was like…this is what makes a role model for me: people who can accept what was given to them and what they had to go through and use all of the sharp edges of the world’s cruelties to carve something so beautiful and so pure that it contradicts all of the sorrow and despair that preceded it.
To be at peace with what happened and then raise your standards for what will happen next is an incredible way to bet on yourself. To demand more from life even though there is no evidence that something better exists.
There is something so powerful about those who find a way to see beauty and grace and light and who are still able to trust that a miracle is just around the corner.
